I picked up this 2019 Topps Musuem Collection Meaningful Materials Paul Goldschmidt Copper Relic numbered to 35 in December for $1.99 plus $3.26 shipping ($5.25 total) on eBay.
I placed the minimum bid amount and no one else seemed interested in this card so I won the auction. It also happened to be Christmas Eve and I'm betting that's probably one of the least active days for eBay auctions. Not a good time for sellers to sell and a great time for buyers to buy (if you're not already broke from the holiday season expenses).
I don't normally seek out just any relic card. I have fairly specific criteria in mind that have to be met for me to consider purchasing. This one drew my attention because of the image selection, its overlapping with the card border aspect (I love when card companies do that), its low print run, the "patch" material on the relic, and the fact that the relic matches the uniform in the image.
This particular cut looks like it came from the Away-Red Dbacks uniform they wore on MLB's Armed Forces Day (note the change in color tone towards the bottom right of the stripe). Other than that, I'm really not sure where exactly on the uniform this cut is from. At first glance I thought it might be from the stitching around the sleeve, but that is 3-color stitching. Who knows where Topps gets their "game-used memorabilia" and how they apply them on cards these days anyways.
This card has been added to my Paul Goldschmidt Player Collection Page found under the Player Collections drop-down menu. Check it out!
